Having been driven from Thessalonica by persecutions, Paul was gravely concerned for their well-being. He wrote of his love for these new Christians and how their reputation for faith had spread far and wide. In both letters, Paul deals directly with the subject of the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in more detail than anywhere else. In the second letter, he warned about "the wicked one" who will deceive many with Satanic wonders, only to be destroyed by the Lord Jesus at his return.
